The Weathercock House was built in 1910 as the residence for Gottfried Thomas, a German trader, and is characterized by its red brick structure and the weathercock (weathervane) that adorns the roof. Presently, it is designated as an Important Cultural Asset of Japan. The decorations inside vary from room to room, but the entire building borrows from traditional German styling.
