A major earthquake shook Hyogo Prefecture on January 17th, 1995, causing major damage. “The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Memorial Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution” is a facility for education on the events of the earthquake, using powerful imagery and sounds. The institution also displays dioramas that show the process from the initial disaster through reconstruction, showing us that even catastrophic damages can be overcome.
