Awaji Island is where you can enjoy the fresh bounty of the sea from the surrounding waterways. It's also a place long revered as a "power spot" by Japanese. It features a facility where flowers of every season can be viewed in full bloom. From Kobe City, in the center of Hyogo Prefecture, it can be accessed by rental car or express bus. This article will introduce a highly recommended way to enjoy seeing wonderful Awaji Island: by bicycle rental!

When visiting Awaji Island, not only did I wish to enjoy the facilities, I really felt like I wanted to go around and see the scenery. Boasting bountiful nature and seas extending as far as the eye can see, I never tire of moving along, enjoying views that aren't seen in the city, but only here!

If you would like to enjoy views such as these, how about using rented bicycles? At Awaji Island's Tourist Information Centers, bicycles can be rented cheaply and easily!

On Awaji Island, bicycles can be rented at 3 places: Iwaya Tourist Information Center on the northern side of the island, Sumoto Tourist Information Center right in the middle, and Minami-Awaji Tourist Information Center on the southern side. This time, I used the Sumoto Tourist Information Center.

It's very easy to use. First, write your name, address and telephone number. You will need to show a piece of ID (one of the following: driver's license, passport, health insurance card or student ID card), so don't forget it!

In case of any trouble, you will be asked for a contact number. In Japan, a cell phone number is basically required, but this can pose a problem for overseas tourists. In this situation, you will be asked to follow their official LINE account. That way, the tourist information center can get in touch with you. Once you've signed up for LINE, you're finished!

Now, let's take our time and savor the beautiful scenery of Awaji Island on rented bicycles!
