Located in the southwestern corner of Hyogo Prefecture, Ako City is home to the remains of Ako Castle and its old castle town. The area is also known for its beautiful ocean views, and Ako Misaki is a great place to look out over the gorgeous waves. It’s also considered a sacred place for lovers! ♥
Additionally, the fish and shellfish here are fresh from the ocean, so they’re really delicious! This time, I’ll be introducing a chic café near Ako Misaki, called “Osaki Wa Café,” where you can enjoy fresh oysters harvested here in Ako City!
It takes about 30 minutes to reach JR Banshu-Ako Station in Ako City from Himeji Station. At its roots, this is a place where you can take in the atmosphere of an old castle town, much like Himeji.
This time I visited with the goal of enjoying Ako City’s famous oysters! However, it’s no secret that Ako’s oysters are delicious, so coming just for that is no fun! I’ll also be introducing a chic restaurant I found!
That restaurant is “Osaki Wa Café.” It’s located a bit far from the city center, closer to the coast, but it’s definitely worth the visit! Look at the amazing view you can see from the terrace seats!
The sun was just starting to set when I stopped by, so I got to enjoy an amazing view!
Not only did I have the perfect backdrop for my visit, but I also got to enjoy the delicious oysters that have made such a buzz online! I ordered the fried oysters meal set.
Alright, time to try a bite…!
They were so delicious!! I’ve actually had raw oysters before and didn’t like them very much. However, these oysters were so good!! Ako oysters grow in the nutrient-rich nearby ocean and consume a lot of plankton, which makes them grow quickly. The result is fully-grown oysters without any off odors.
Incidentally, while the terrace seats were great, the seats inside the café were also really chic and nice!
Enjoying fried oysters while looking out over Ako City’s beautiful ocean was such a great experience! You should definitely try this yourself!
