Have you heard of Japan Heritage? This organization officially recognizes stories that tell of Japan's culture and traditions through local historical attractions and features. Out of 70 current Japan Heritage sites, 5 of them are in Hyogo Prefecture. This article will introduce them as recommended places to visit during a trip to Japan.

Horse racing is one type of government-controlled professional competitive sport for which gambling is allowed in Japan. Since it’s government-managed, you can safely and assuredly enjoy watching and betting on horse races. Hyogo Prefecture is home to several racecourses, but this time we will be introducing “Sonoda Racecourse”!

“Boat races” are one type of government-controlled professional competitive sport for which gambling is allowed in Japan. Since it’s government-managed, you can safely and assuredly enjoy watching and betting on the boat races. In Hyogo Prefecture, you can find this event at “BOAT RACE Amagasaki”!

Hyogo Prefecture is home to a number of historic sites, like World Heritage Site Himeji Castle. Out of those, this time we will be introducing the streets of Hirafuku!
Enjoy Exquisite Oyster Dishes at a Café Overlooking the Ocean in Ako City!
Located in the southwestern corner of Hyogo Prefecture, Ako City is home to the remains of Ako Castle and its old castle town. The area is also known for its beautiful ocean views, and Ako Misaki is a great place to look out over the gorgeous waves. It’s also considered a sacred place for lovers! ♥
Additionally, the fish and shellfish here are fresh from the ocean, so they’re really delicious! This time, I’ll be introducing a chic café near Ako Misaki, called “Osaki Wa Café,” where you can enjoy fresh oysters harvested here in Ako City!

Himeji City in Hyogo Prefecture is home to many sightseeing spots, like World Heritage Site Himeji Castle, old Japanese gardens to stroll through, and the Ie Islands with their delicious seafood and beautiful scenery! This time, I’ll be introducing “Shoshazan Engyoji Temple,” a famous power spot in Himeji City.

“Mineyama Kogen Resort White Peak” is a ski resort in Hyogo Prefecture, newly opened in 2017!
A Beautiful View of the Ocean! UNESCO Global Geopark “San’in Kaigan Geopark”!
The Tajima area, located in the northern part of Hyogo Prefecture, is home to famous hot spring resorts like Kinosaki Onsen and Yumura Onsen, as well as beautiful natural sights of the ocean and mountains. It’s easily reached by rental car or train from Kobe City (or Himeji City, where Himeji Castle is located), the heart of Hyogo Prefecture. This time I’ll be introducing “San’in Kaigan Geopark,” a UNESCO-certified Global Geopark.
